Sullivan County Newly Elected Officials Sworn in at Sullivan County Courthouse

On Monday December 18th Clerk-Treasurer Melissa Copeland along with Town Council Elects Aaron Lewis and Jared “Opie” Miller, joined over 20 other newly elected officials from around the county to get sworn in at the Sullivan County Courthouse. 
Clerk-Treasurer Melissa Copeland has already begun her duties as Clerk-Treasurer since she was the incumbent. Town Council Elects Aaron Lewis and Jared "Opie" Miller will both begin their duties on January 1, 2024.

2024 Redevelopment Commission

The mission of the Redevelopment Commission is to promote and encourage business growth and expansion while appropriating land use and improvements within the Town of Shelburn. In doing so, they facilitate discussions on economic development issues, provide land use and development information to local elected and appointed officials, and provide public input on development, land use, and other economic development issues. 

Duties of the Shelburn Redevelopment Commission include the following: 
  1. Investigate, survey and study areas in the unit that need redevelopment. 
  2. Study and combat the factors causing an area to need redevelopment. 
  3. Select and acquire areas needing redevelopment or economic development areas. 
  4. Oversee any locally created Tax Increment Finance (TIF) districts. 
The Redevelopment Commission is comprised of five members. Three are appointed by the Town Council President and two are appointed by the Town Council. The Town Council also appoints an individual from the school board to serve as a non-voting advisor to the commission. Term of service is one year.
 
If you are interested in being a part of the Shelburn Redevelopment Commission, please fill out an application.  You can mail or drop off the application at the Shelburn Town Hall at 15 N. Railroad St. Shelburn, IN 47879. You can also email it to [email protected].  The deadline to apply for the 2024 Shelburn Redevelopment Commission is 4:00pm on January 9, 2024.

New Elected Officials Attend Training

On Monday December 4th Clerk-Treasurer Melissa Copeland as well as Town Council Elects Aaron Lewis, Jared “Opie” Miller, and Alex Norris all traveled to Evansville, Indiana for the day and attended the Newly Elected Officials Training. They are excited to hit the ground running on January 1st!
