Historic Interurban Depot

In 1855, the town of Shelburn was founded around the Evansville and Crawfordsville Railroad, one of the country’s most comprehensive statewide interurban transit systems. By 1910, Shelburn became a thriving center for surrounding farms, coal mines and businesses. With this success, came the Shelburn Interurban Depot, a large one-story building that has stood tall for over a century. The depot became an integral part of the development of downtown Shelburn from 1910 to 1931. Business owners were drawn to the town and filled the buildings, giving the streets a diverse collection of industries that catered to the growing population and frequent visitors.
Restaurant and Bar PossibilitiesFounded on rich history and unique character, Shelburn’s historic Interurban Depot has recently been restored as an investment opportunity for a restaurant/bar.
Shelburn is looking for a partner investor to offer a lucrative-lease opportunity for anyone interested in starting a restaurant/bar business in this building. There is a three-way liquor license reserved for Interurban Depot by Shelburn. Conveniently located just off of Highway 41, the Interurban Depot is easily accessible to travelers while still centered at the heart of the community. Data shows that the population within 30 miles of the location will support the business and an opportunity exists for this to become a lucrative destination. |
Shelburn has invested in this one-of-a-kind historic building and plans to continue to invest in the infrastructure to accommodate and assist in making this a successful business opportunity and partnership.
There is a sense of nostalgia and pride reflected throughout the Interurban Depot. The century-old walls hold timeless stories of lives passed and journies traveled. Today, the Interurban Depot welcomes travelers, historians and proud, hometown residents while housing many stories to come.
