Public Hearing Set for August19: Proposed Water & Wastewater Rate Changes

The Town of Shelburn is inviting residents to a public hearing on proposed rate increases for water and wastewater (sewer) service. The Town Council will consider adopting two new ordinances at its regular meeting.

What's Being ProposedThe Town Council is considering rate adjustments for both the Shelburn Municipal Water Utility and the Shelburn Municipal Sewage Works. If adopted, the new rates would take effect in two phases — the first upon adoption, and the second on January 1, 2027.
For example, under the proposal:

• The base water rate for the first 2,000 gallons would rise from $14.55 to $16.01 per 1,000 gallons in Phase I, and to $16.81 in Phase II.
• The wastewater flow rate would rise from $6.75 to $7.43 per 1,000 gallons in Phase I, and to $7.80 in Phase II.

Monthly minimum charges, base charges, surcharges, and tap fees would also be adjusted. The full rate schedule for both utilities — including all meter sizes and wholesale user rates — is available in the official notice below.
